Messy Kennedy

Around here life is crazy, messy and we love every minute!

Wedding Style

Now, as promised, I am here to talk about the big day that my fiance and I are planning.  If you missed the story of how we met check it out here.  When I got engaged I’m not going to lie, I was so excited but I didn’t really know what I was doing.

I’ve found that through this process you learn a lot about yourself.  One of the major things you learn is what you like and what you don’t.  In my personal case, I learned what my style is.  I’ve always been a person who lived by the philosophy of, “I like what I like and I don’t care if it makes sense.”  In regard to my clothes, I have cowboy boots, Vans skateboarding sneakers and 5 inch peep toe suede pumps.  Like I said, it doesn’t really make sense to normal people.

Finally, after years of searching for it, I have found my sense of style and I can sum it up in two words: Country Vintage.  I’m trying to go for a country chic look (no mom, not farmy or redneck).   Honestly, who doesn’t love cowboy boots on the wedding party?

This makes me want to change my wedding to the early summer…. I LOVE lilacs.

There’s nothing prettier than Mason jars with candles in them.  I can’t wait to start doing my final centerpiece designs! 🙂

I need boots exactly like those for a wedding that I’m in in July. I’ve been looking forever but haven’t found what I want. Anyone know where I can get boots like those?

Erika, I’m sure you could get them from a website like Sheplers.com, bootbarn.com or cavenders.com

Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the pictures from your wedding. I loved one wedding where the bridesmaids all walked out in yellow sundresses and bare feet. Very sweet. Enjoy the planning!

Yellow sundresses and bare feet would be wonderful at the right wedding! Thank you for reading and commenting Amy.

Love the pic of the bridal party in boots! If I had it to do over…;). I also went to a wedding last summer out in a prairie and they did the reception in an old rural school gym. They did the mason jar hanging lights (it was gorgeous) and their favor was local flavored butters (who doesn’t like food to take home?). Looks like you’re on a great track. Good luck!

Thank you so much for reading and commenting! The wedding you went to last summer sounds stunning and so unique. I am wishing I could do hanging mason jars in our reception hall, but sadly they won’t let us. They give off the most beautiful glow for a wedding.

I hope it will be! I have lots of help from talented people so I’m sure it will be. It’s going to be a lot of fun to share what the day actually looked like.

Whether I am invited to your wedding or not, I am wearing a dress and cowgirl boots on the day you get married. To celebrate it. Because, you know, I kind of like you.

    • messin33 says

      August 25, 2011 at 11:45 am

I would hope so 🙂 And yes, of course you’re invited! And you should bring Amanda Sollman with you too!

        Hmmmm…. I don’t know….. the three of us don’t get along that well 😉

          August 25, 2011 at 3:44 pm

Yeah…. You’re right, your invite is revoked 😉

BAHAHAHAHAHA. Ashley, you know I would drive, fly, ride a boat, or walk if I had to, to be there. And when I said “if I’m invited” it meant I could understand if I’m not since wedding are expensive and I’d expect you to invite “real life” friends first. BUT, I am HONORED that me and Sollmana are invited. I expect there to be attractive single farmers there.

          August 25, 2011 at 7:11 pm

Well you two are real life friends lol Especially since Amanda and I went to Europe together. But, of course I need to find out exactly how many people can fit into the dinning room before I can say for sure…. But, even if my number of dinner invites are limited you are so invited for immediately after dinner and all night 🙂 But I’m thinking I should be able to squeeze a few very special friends in!

I love the idea of boots on the bridal party! It reminds me of photos I’ve seen from Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s wedding… vintage country. Thanks for sharing, Ashley.

Thank you so much for the read and the comment. I so agree that the cowboy boots is like Blake and Miranda’s wedding. I thought about doing that before they got married and then they did it and make it cool for everyone!

Love it! We did a country wedding as well. Our reception hall was even a former Turkey barn. It was a ton of fun. If you want to see any photos let me know 🙂

Having your reception in an old Turkey barn would be so cool. I wish we had a barn big enough to hold the size of our wedding in the area is unheard of. I would love to see pictures, any ideas are a huge help! You can email them to dairyinnovationblog@gmail.com. Thank you a ton!
