Messy Kennedy

Around here life is crazy, messy and we love every minute!

Down to 3 Rooms: Home DIY to the Max

If you follow the Facebook Page you will know we have some exciting things going on with our house and we are full boar into home DIY. We are currently living out of 3 rooms in our house while we remodel the other 7! So, it may not be that exciting depending on how you look at it.

We are literally down to studs in these rooms as you can see. We had a lot of help over 4th of July weekend and we gut the remaining 3 bedrooms upstairs, the hallway, stairwell, dining room, living room and kitchen.

Now the hard part starts….. Putting it back together.  We are so lucky because my husband’s parents are weekend warriors and they really enjoy doing this. There are a lot of changes going on right now and there is a lot of hard work happening.

Earlier this week we got this old barn beam up. We took out part of the wall in the kitchen to open it up into the dining room. It was a load bearing wall so we had to add in lots of extra support. We junked this beam from an old barn we bought and we found it in there. It’s going to look so cool when it gets stained and varnished! I can’t wait to share it.

Right now our kitchen is set up in the way it will be when it’s finished to give us a chance to work with the flow. Naturally we have particle board cupboard on the peninsula and some of the lower cabinets that need to be made are missing… But we get a general idea. By the end of the week I am hoping to have my kitchen sink purchased and then we can call our cupboard guys in to start making a plan when they can fit us in.

I am so excited and I cannot wait to continue showing you the progress.
