There are many things we all take for granted. One of the biggest ones, is our freedom. I will admit, some days I take it for granted too. I forget that it hasn’t always been acceptable to be a woman working in agriculture.
With today being Veteran’s Day I thought I would think about a few of the things that make a country free. Number one, is protection. This is what all of the people who have served in the armed forces are providing. The ones who have defended our freedom and have allowed us to make our own choices. The lives sacrificed are something we can never get back, but we must be thankful for their commitment and lives every day.
The second thing is a safe and abundant food supply. Without a safe food supply a country cannot be independent. Keep that in mind the next time you wish the entire U.S. food supply was produced without technology. We work hard to make sure your food is safe and produced in a way that we do what’s best for the environment and those around us.
In many ways Veterans and farmers are very similar. Each day they are fighting to give people their most basic rights. They are trying to make sure they can go to bed at night comfortable, free and cared for. Although we still have work to do, we will not give up the fight.
